Sideways & Upside Down

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is not just important—it’s foundational. This site exists to support individuals and couples on their recovery journeys, and we honor the need for confidentiality, trust, and safety in everything we do. We adhere to a strict code of anonymity and have designed this platform to collect as little personal information as possible.

What we collect

By default, tools on this site (like the Weekly Check-In and Daily Journal) store your entries only in your browser’s local storage on your own device. We never see this data, and it is never transmitted to any server.

If you choose to make a payment to support this work, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not collect or store your card details. We may receive your email address and the amount paid, in order to process your payment.

Analytics

We use privacy-first, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic—for example, which pages are visited. This data cannot be tied back to you as an individual.

What we don’t do

  • We do not sell, share, or rent your personal information to anyone, for any reason.
  • We do not use your data for ad targeting or marketing beyond this site.
  • We do not require your real name to use any tool on this site.
  • We do not use tracking cookies, pixels, or fingerprinting.
  • We do not store passwords or payment information directly on our servers.

Email communication

If you subscribe to updates, we collect only the email address you provide, and you’ll only receive content from Sideways & Upside Down. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. We do not share your email with sponsors, affiliates, or other organizations—ever.

Data security

We use reputable third-party services (such as Stripe) that maintain high security standards. Our site is SSL-encrypted and regularly reviewed for privacy integrity.

Your control

You can clear any locally-stored tool data at any time from within the tool itself, or by clearing your browser’s site data.

You also have the right to access any personal information you’ve shared with us, request correction or deletion of it, and opt out of communications at any time. To do any of the above, just contact us.

Respecting anonymity

We understand that recovery is deeply personal. We will never ask for more than you’re willing to share, and we will never reference or disclose any identifying details about you, your recovery, or your interactions with this platform.

We believe recovery begins in safety, and that starts with trust.

Updates

This policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify subscribers of any significant changes.
